Staff Profiles

Sister Ann Hardcastle, Executive Director

Hi-
I'm Sister Ann with Catherine's House. I serve as Executive Director and a Board of Trustee for all programs, personnel, facilities, financial operations, and most importantly, the mission of this agency.

I began my venture with CH five years ago, whereby I was part of a planning group that envisioned and obtained funding for Catherine's House. I have been privileged to help implement a shared dream by the Sisters of Mercy in Arkansas.

Sometimes, I am asked what keeps me at Catherine's House... And, I must say that working at Catherine's House is more than a job. I have seen the programs grow to serve many people, and I have seen that delivery of services is respectful of all persons. Our mission is clear... it is to serve. This is why I stay at Catherine's House.

Wilma Tatum, Project Director

Hi-
I'm Wilma Tatum with Catherine's House. I serve as SPRANS Project Director. I have been with Catherine's House for five years. My role is to plan, implement and supervise the SPRANS Community Based Abstience Education Program in Little Rock and Pulaski County Schools as well as in the community.

Believe it or not, I was lead to Catherine's House when I responded to a very small ad in the newspaper. I was interviewed and offered the job. I knew the first day that it was where I wanted to be... helping to provide services in the community. Also, I had a couple of friends who worked for CH so I knew that it would be a great place to work.

I continue to work at CH because the atmosphere just really makes me want to stay and try to make a difference in the lives of the teens, the children and families. Along with that, Sister Amelie always says that she plants a "magnet" inside of potential employees and volunteers. I guess her magnet is still planted inside me. Catherine's House is a "house." It's a wonderful place to work. When I see the big smiles of the children coming and going everyday; when I see the academic achievements of the teens and how eager they seem to be here everyday; when I see adults actually working hard and getting that GED, I know that we are making a difference.

Maxine Graves, Receptionist

Hi-
I open the door electronically and greet our visitors; forward telephone calls; send and receive faxes; open and distribute the mail; make copies; and try to make our visitors welcome at Catherine's House.

I have been at Catherine's House for three years. My history with CH began when AARP sent me to interview for the job. As you can see, I am still here as an employee. The reason that I continue to work here at CH is because I love the atmosphere, co-workers, clients, and parents. Catherine's House helps a lot of people in a lot of ways. It is so wonderful to watch the children grow and learn. And, I simply enjoy seeing the adults improve their lives.

Sister Amelie, Volunteer

Hi-
I serve as Community Liaison with Catherine's House. I assist our administrator with communications, public relations, and development projects. I participate in management meetings and represent CH at local meetings; support and implement our mission; recruit volunteers and keep records; host tours and keep records of visitors; and assist in other duties as assigned by our administrator.

I have been at CH for seven years. I loved teaching and experienced its importance and cherished my students. However, as I realized the growing needs of children and families, I dreamed of being able to assist them in other ways. Catherine's House was an answer to my dream.... And, this is how I became to know CH. This same dream keeps me motivated and happily working at CH. It is indeed my privilege to assist children and families in their various needs. It is a blessing to working with our dedicated staff and the clients who come trustingly to us for assistance and to prepare our children to become confident self-sufficient citizens of the future.

Craig Poole, Abstinence Youth Support Specialist

Hi-
I am Craig with Catherine's House. I serve as the Abstinence Youth Support Specialist. I am responsible for coordinating abstinence education instruction in the classrooms of 4 high schools in Little Rock and Pulaski County School Districts. I also coordinate an after-school group male mentoring group. I have been with Catherine's House for 9 months.

For the past 5 years, I have worked with several non-profit youth agencies. When I moved back to Arkansas, I wanted to continue this field of work, which is what lead me to CH. I continue to work for Catherine's House because I am motivated to make a difference in our students' lives. I want them to know that they do not have to be a product of their environment. I want them to know that they can rise above the level of mediocrity and be a difference maker. I believe that CH is a very unique organization that is blazing a trail in the area of youth services.
